Our summer program offers four two-week sessions that allow children entering the first to fifth grades to focus on Creative and Visual Arts, Fun with Math, Learning Spanish or French.

Teaching in these subject areas places an emphasis on increasing your child’s knowledge, experiences and aesthetic expression. Activities will help your child learn team building, problem solving strategies and a variety of hands-on skills that can be used throughout their lives.

 

Creative and Visual Arts Program

This program will introduce children to the process of making art as well as expand their interest in the creative and visual arts. Activities include kite making, painting, working with clay and printmaking.

Dance classes provide instruction in basic techniques, contemporary dance and choreography. In additoin, classes in West African dance, drumming, jazz techniques and costume making allow children to have fun while exploring diverse forms of the art.

Drama activities offer children the opportunity for personal and spiritual growth through training in areas such as public speaking, interpretive reading, pantomime and play production. Our drama program helps children to experience a deeper meaning in their Christian faith, develop self-confidence and self-expression, and develop friendships with other children. Activities also help children to develop clear speech and positive social skills and to become confident, articulate communicators

Math Is Fun Program

This program places an emphasis on using algebra to illustrate principles that are true in all areas of mathematics. Students learn broad and practical principals that are helpful for any math curriculum. Children will develop reasoning skills while being encouraged to see that math can be fun and challenging.

Activities include:

  • problem-solving strategies

  • games and puzzles

  • mapping, graphing

  • predicting probabilities

 

Learning to Speak Spanish or French

At Trinity Academy we recognize how important it is for children to improve foreign language skills and be exposed to different cultures. Spanish and French classes will expose children to the vocabulary, cultures and music of people who speak these languages.

Lessons will focus on counting, singing songs and a variety of words and phrases. Geography and historical background of various Spanish- or French-speaking countries will also be emphasized.
